NO TO RACISM,
FASCISM
AND ISLAMOPHOBIA!
March and Carnival The march will assemble at 12 noon, Malet Street, London WC1
Saturday 6 November. (go to www.uaf.org.uk for full details)
Stop the War Coalition would like to through its support behind this demonstration and urge all its members and supporters to do what they can to support and join the demonstration.
This summer the racist thugs of the Scottish and English Defence League have stirred up hatred, run riot and in some cases provoked violent attacks on Muslim, black and Asian communities across Britain. From Bolton to Kilmarnock and Bradford to Edinburgh, UAF has organised local communities and organised national mobilisations wherever these racist thugs have attempted to spread hatred.
A demonstration of tens of thousands against racism will be a vital step forward in combating the rise of the far right and give confidence to the anti-racist majority.
Union leaders, MPs and campaigners have signed up to support the national demonstration against Racism, Fascism and Islamophobia - full list at
http://uaf.org.uk/2010/09/add-your-support-for-6-nov-antiracist-demo/
The demo has been called by UAF and their sister organisation Love Music Hate Racism, and backed by the TUC, the Muslim Council of Britain.

TIME TO GO FROM
AFGHANISTAN
IS NOW
The demonstration will assemble in Hyde Park at 12 noon and march to Trafalgar Square for a rally, when speakers will include Tony Benn, Eric Joyce MP, Guardian journalist Seumas Milne and Lowkey (more to be announced soon). The war in Afghanistan has entered its tenth year, making it longer than World War I and World War II combined. Both prime minister David Cameron and Labour leader Ed Miliband support continuing the war, at least till 2015. Thousands more Afghan civilians and Nato soldiers will be killed in a pointless and unwinnable war, when over 70 per cent of the British public want all British troops withdrawn now. Join this crucial demonstration which will give voice to the anti-war majority in the country and tell the politicians the time to go is now. Publicise in your neighbourhood. Publicity for the demonstration should be visible in every city, borough, town and village. Posters, flyers and stickers are available to use now from the Stop the War office.

Naming of the Dead Ceremony
for the 1000's of Afghan people and 307 British soldiers
who have died in Afghanistan
Saturday 26 June
12 noon til 1pm
Argyle Street, Glasgow (outside Debenhams), G2 8AR

Another tragic landmark has been passed with the 300th British soldier do be killed in Afghanistan. They are now dying at a rate of one every two days in a war which is clearly aimless and unwinnable. David Cameron says he wants the troops to return home from Afghanistan "with heads held high". His present war policies means an increasing number will only return in a coffin or with missing limbs.

This is an opportunity now to raise the demand that the war budget should be slashed rather than public services and that all the troops should be brought home to help bring to an end thespiral of violence in Afghanistan.

The maths is simple: cut the war budget, not public services

George Osborne's budget speech on 22 June announced the biggest cuts in public expenditure in over a generation. There is no alternative, he said. But there is: cut the war in Afghanistan, scrap Trident, bring the troops home. Then there will be no need to cut... welfare services or increase VAT.

PROTEST ON BUDGET DAY

CUT THE WAR - SCRAP TRIDENT

BRING THE TROOPS HOME

George Square, Glasgow

Tuesday June 22nd.

3.00pm onwards

Rally at 5.30pm

Speakers will include Scottish CND and Glasgow Stop the War Coaliton.
Download flyer at link below

Chancellor George Osborne has forewarned of a slash and burn attack on allpublic services in his budget, with the exception of defence expenditure, whichwill be "protected".
The Afghan War has cost £11 billion so far, and this year will waste another£4 billion (SEE http://bit.ly/a33Fdj ). Trident renewal will cost anastronomical £70 billion, more than the total amount the government wants tocut from its budget deficit in the next five years.
It is the war budget that should be slashed, rather than public services. Andall the troops should be brought home to help end the spiral of violence inAfghanistan. The United Nations reported recently that the presence of theBritish army has only worsened security in the country (SEEhttp://bit.ly/cx7cL9 ).

The government is claiming a consensus for the need for massive cutbacks to our public services. Almost no-one in public life is calling for serious cuts in the war budget - a measure that would be hugely popular. Both Stop the War and Scottish CND will be at the protest next Tuesday’s. The current annual expenditure on Afghanistan is nearly £4 billion, enough to build 200 new secondary schools. Scrapping Trident would save £70 billion, more than the total amount the government wants to cut from the deficit in the next five years. Meanwhile the approach of the 300th British military death in Afghanistan is testimony to the terrible human cost of the war.
Join us on budget day and protest as the 300th British death approaches and we demand 'Cut the war, Scrap Trident, Troops out of Afghanistan'.
