The TUC anti-cuts march on 26 March could be the largest inBritain since the two million strong Stop the War march againstthe Iraq war in 2003.Stop the War, CND and BMI will have a combined anti-war / peacecontingent on the march. Our slogans will be Cut warfare NotWelfare and Scrap Trident and we will be calling for thewithdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and an end to theintervention in Libya. We will also be highlighting the cost of wars in Afghanistan andLibya in the context of draconian cuts in public services. Wecalculate that, if you combine the spending over the next fouryears on the Afghanistan war with the cost of maintaining theTrident missile system, you get a total of £30 billion -- whichis one third of the total cuts the government is making in publicservices (for more details on the cost of war, including Libya,go to: http://bit.ly/h7Brvc )
The anti-war / peace contingent meets at Embankment by HMSPresident (near Blackfriars bridge) at 11 am. Please join us ifyou can and bring your banners.

EMERGENCY PROTEST
HANDS OFF LIBYA: GADAFFI MUST GO
NO WESTERN INTERVENTION
STOP THE BOMBING NOW
TUESDAY 22 MARCH 5.30PM
GEORGE SQUARE, GLASGOW
Britain and the USA have bombed Libya with more than one hundred Tomahawkcruise missiles. These are not precision guided weapons but weapons of massdestruction that will create many civilian casualties in Libya. The United Nations resolution authorising a no-fly zone begins as it willcontinue, with a full-scale military attack on the country.
Stop the War condemns this barbarous attack which will result, not inprotecting the people of Libya, but in enslaving them under the domination ofthe West. We know only too well the death and destruction that imperialism hasbrought to the peoples of the region.

A leaflet putting the case for non-intervention and a petition, initiated byTony Benn, John Pilger and others, are both available to download for printing, here:
